Exclusive interview

Da Mind

Hip-Hop artist, Da Mind!

Where did you grow up? I grew up in, Beaufort, S.C.

What inspired you to get into music? My favorite artist of all time is 2pac and Scarface.

Do you write and produce music? I just love to write music, but my homeboy produces all my tracks, Fie Fie Beats.

What is a songwriting session like for you? So for me I like to come up with a title, then I go to my homie's studio and produce the beat. Once I finishing producing the beat, I listen to it about three times, then I go home and write to the beat in my head. For some reason I don't like to write while I'm listening to the track.

Where do you record? I live on the out skirts of Atlanta,  but my friends studio is in Norcross, GA, which is about 20 minutes from my house.

What is your local Hip-Hop scene like right now in Atlanta? In Atlanta most of the music coming out of Atlanta sounds the same, but it's ok I guess, it just seems like the creative side of rap is dead.

Do you write for other artists? No, but if the price is right, I would put the pen to the paper.

What artists and bands do you listen to in your spare time? 2pac, Scarface, Nas, DMX, E40, Ice Cube, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Cardi B and anything old school.

Tell us about your latest project. This project is some of my best work as an artist. I love to create positive music because right now 99% precent of the music is goofy. 'I'm' is a song about me being tired of music that is always putting down women, or music about using drugs and violence. It seems like we as black people, embrace negative shit all the time.

What can we expect from you in the future? Listen my man, I can only be me, but please keep your ears to the streets because I am not done yet.
