Hip-Hop group, Bluecheese Ent.
Bluecheese Ent., the name alone is intriguing! What's the story behind it, and how does it represent the group's identity and sound? Cano III: We started off as Gang Green, then we seen that New York rapper Max B and them called themselves Gang Green, so one day we were brainstorming and Ian came with Blu Cheese, he said we getting Crip money so we getting Blu Cheese, he left off the E in blue because we’re from the Westside.
How did Bluecheese Ent. initially form, and what were each member's individual musical influences that you brought to the table? Cano III: Well soon after we changed the name we met Jay. We started off just rapping on my mom’s porch. The first time we heard Jay, we were both like, he gotta be Blu Cheese. We brought that new west coast sound and Jay brought that YN energy from his lingo, to his dress style, we all matched perfectly.
How would you describe your unique sound to someone who's never heard of you before? Jae$360: Very lucrative flow’s. Like Picasso painting pictures for the fan’s.
Cano III: It’s a crazy mesh, Jay is really flashy, arrogant with hella swag. I’m low key super gangsta, and I get intense. Which is the perfect combination with punchlines after punchline we just ride like a river.
What's your typical creative process like when crafting a new track – does it start with a beat, a concept, or something else entirely? Jae$360: It differ’s to each produced work. I might hear a beat and instantly say yes, this is in next group of song’s. Or think of punchlines an/or concept’s and say I need to make a beat for it with maker.
Cano III: We used to all sit around playing the beat, come up with the hook and start writing. Now a days, Jay will usually hit me like, "hey bro, put a verse to this," and I just do my thang.
What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced as a collective navigating the music industry, and how have you overcome them? Jae$360: I can honestly say no challenges, just step after step.
Cano III: Well, Jay being in a car accident and me going back and forth to prison, I think was our biggest challenge. We missed years of being together and lost a lil bit of cohesiveness.
Which artists, both within and outside of hip-hop, do you consider to be major inspirations for Bluecheese Ent.? Jae$360: 2Pac, Dipset, Biggie, Three Six Mafia, Master P, Money Man, Twista and Nas.
Cano III: For me it was 3-6 mafia, 2pac, Dirty Boys, OutKast, Master P and NWA. The group that got me rapping was Crucial Conflict. I wrote my first song to Smoking on Hay.
What are some of the key themes or messages you aim to convey through your music? Jae$360: To be yourself. Get your fund’s, take care of your task’s and most importantly be successful.
Cano III: Get money, keep your circle small, stand on ten toes and never let a nigga play you.
How do you approach live performances, and what do you want fans to experience when they come to a Bluecheese Ent. show? Jae$360: I come with huge energy. I want them to experience a great vibe all the way through.
Cano III: I come with laid back energy, but I’m the nigga that’s gonna kick it with the audience and smoke one and get rowdy with them. I get up close and personal.
What upcoming projects or collaborations can fans look forward to from Bluecheese Ent. in the near future? Jae$360: Fan Single with video. As well as the album release.
Cano III: Of course the Fan single, they gotta look out for that, followed by the album and many videos to compliment.
Beyond music, what are some of the other passions or interests that each member of Bluecheese Ent. pursues? Jae$360: Watching sport’s. Gym time for mental & physical strength. Eating wonderful.
Cano III: I’m a gamer, find me on COD or Madden in my off time. I also do podcast and little edits for YouTube.
